Glass Batches and Glass Properties
Features
and
Benefits
- Fast und easy calculation of batch recipes
- Reliable prediction of important glass properties
- Quality improvement by stabilization of the glass chemistry
- Minimization of batch and energy costs
- Modern and convenient Windows® user interface
- Easy data exchange with laboratory and batch plant
Glass is only as good as its batch recipe. In view of constantly changing raw material compositions and rising raw material costs, the calculation of the optimum ingredients of raw materials for a given glass composition is a decisive factor in glass manufacture.
The best possible correlation between nominal and actual analysis of the glass as well as the resultant glass properties makes it necessary to consider all important technological factors, such as losses due to evaporation and saturation.
BatchMaker fulfills these basic requirements in a convenient and flexible manner and moreover offers many practical functions and tools. Data storage in the open XML format also simplifies data exchange with laboratory management systems and batch plants.
Master Data
and
Analyses
- Administering any number of chemical components, raw materials, foreign and factory cullet
- Free definition of calculated components (such as R2O=Na2O+K2O)
- Assignment of all data to plants, furnaces and glass types
- Definition of raw material-dependent evaporation factors for each chemical component
- Administering plant-related chemical analyses, humidities and prices for all raw materials
- Comfortable copy function for analyses
Glass Recipes
- Definition of nominal value, tolerance, saturation limit and evaporation factor for each chemical component
- Free assignment of carrier raw materials for each component with definition of the mixing ratio
- Definition of absolute and relative additives (e.g. refining agents or cullet)
- Calculation for mixer batch size, amount of glass or base ingredient (e.g. glass sand)
- Automatic nominal value adaptation for an arbitrary chemical component
Batch Recipes
- Automatic calculation of raw materials and cullet weights (dry and wet)
- Calculation of glass and cost shares for each chemical component and each raw material
- Calculation of the theoretical glass composition (synthesis) with tolerance test
- Calculation of the redox number and important glass properties with graphical presentation
- Correction test function (testing if changes of the raw material analyses necessitate a recalculation)
- Configurable report view
